Volunteering Opportunities at Community Foundation Wakefield District

At The Community Give Box in Trinity Walk, Wakefield, we offer a range of volunteering opportunities that not only help your local community but which also provide valuable, transferable skills. Whether it’s customer service, preparing stock, working the till, pricing items, organising donations, or coordinating referrals from other organisations, volunteering with us is a fantastic way to gain real-world experience.

It's absolutely fine if you can only spare a few hours a week. It’s absolutely wonderful if you can commit regularly! Either way, your time will make a real difference. Volunteering is beneficial to both the Wakefield community and you—it helps build skills that can enhance your C.V. or support a new career path.

Whether you're retired and looking to give back, or you’re a student eager to gain experience, for example, we welcome volunteers from all backgrounds. No prior experience is required, and full training will be provided.

Every task you do at The Community Give Box directly supports local people—your friends, neighbours, or classmates who may be facing tough times and need a helping hand. As a locally rooted charity, we focus on supporting those in the Wakefield District, and your efforts will help us continue this important work.

The Benefits of Volunteering:

  • Career Development: Volunteering can increase your chances of getting hired by 27%, according to the Corporation for National & Community Service.
  • Skills Building: A Deloitte survey found that 82% of hiring managers prefer candidates with volunteer experience, as it helps develop leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Wellbeing: Volunteering has been shown to reduce stress, increase life satisfaction, and even lower the risk of depression according to a study from the Mayo Clinic.
