At Community Foundation Wakefield District, we support people who fall through the cracks — with no judgment, no lengthy forms, and no barriers to getting help.
Many of the families and individuals we help are fleeing crisis situations. They may be escaping domestic abuse, recovering from a house fire, leaving unsafe living conditions, or facing sudden homelessness.
When they reach emergency or temporary accommodation, they often arrive with nothing but the clothes they are wearing.
No bed. No kettle. No towels. No toys for their children. And yet, this is where they are expected to begin again.
The average cost of a care package is £450 for an entire family, and we distribute around 9 every week. We need to raise funds for this vital service to continue being a safety net for the Wakefield District.
Every month in 2026, we will focus on one part of the home — raising funds for the basic items people need most.
We’re encouraging micro-giving: small, specific donations that feel tangible and achievable.
Your “change” changes lives — right here in the Wakefield District.
Each item becomes part of someone’s fresh start.
We’re hoping to raise £2,750 over the course of the year to help local people through some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
Every penny stays within the Wakefield District. Every donation supports someone rebuilding from a crisis. Every gift helps turn an empty house into a safe home.
