#iwill - Youth Social Action Fund

Round Two

Leeds Community Foundation are awarding grants on behalf of the #iwill fund for Wakefield Metropolitan District which has been match funded by Wakefield Council.


Youth social action has huge potential to create enjoyable opportunities and skills development for young people, benefitting local people and places. The aim of this grant is to raise the level and quality of youth social action. The programme aim is to increase youth social action by 50% by 2020 taking the percentage of young people that volunteer from 40% to 60%.

Social action involves activities such as campaigning and volunteering which enable participants to make a positive difference to their communities. Social action develops the skills and knowledge of young people that employers look for. The definition of young people is between 10 and 20, and up to 25 for disabled young people.


You can apply as a local organisation for awards of between £1,000 and £5,000.

12noon on Thursday 13th September 2018.

Previous Rounds

This is the second of two rounds and we welcome new projects that fulfil the fund criteria. However, projects awarded funding in the previous round can still apply for up to 50% of continuation costs in this round.

Tampon Tax Community Fund

Round Two now open for applications

We are delighted to announce that we will shortly be launching the Tampon Tax Community Fund for women and girls as part of a national programme of grant making using funds raised from the VAT charged on sanitary products.

The fund will support groups working with women and girls across the Wakefield Metropolitan District to:-

  • Build skills and confidence
  • Improve health & wellbeing
  • Build social networks

We anticipate opening the fund for applications in August/September 2018 with decisions on grant awards made in November/December 2018. Exact dates will be confirmed in due course, please keep an eye on this page for further information.
