Help keep Wakefield families warm this Christmas

WDH and Wakefield Council are joining forces to support this year’s Winter Fuel Christmas Challenge, organised by the Community Foundation for Wakefield District. The aim is to bring warmth to 800 families and elderly people who are facing fuel poverty this Christmas.
The appeal goes public on International Giving Day, Tuesday 27 November and is open online to 4 December 2018 at www.thebiggive.org.uk (and enter Community Foundation for Wakefield) with an option to donate locally right through to Christmas Day itself.
“Big Give” Winter Fuel Christmas Challenge 2018
This year’s challenge is to double the £10,000 match funding already provided by WDH Housing and Wakefield Council. With this in place, every pound donated to the Winter Fuel Christmas Challenge will be matched. The Community Foundation is set to double the number of families receiving Winter Fuel support, from 350 households last year to 800 this year. The aim, with public support, is to ensure families and elderly people can benefit from emergency fuel grants of £25 over the festive season, by raising £20,000 through the “Big Give” Winter Fuel Christmas Challenge 2018.
Help share the Christmas Spirt
You may also like to consider organising a festive event at your workplace, school or in the community.
- Treat yourselves, bring a cake to work
- Dress up, dress down day or wear a special colour to work
- Burn off some energy before Christmas with a 1 mile walk at lunch time or 50,000 steps in a week!
The Big Give Christmas Challenge
Whatever you decide to do, every £25 will make a real difference to someone’s Christmas who lives right here within Wakefield District.
