Wakefield District - A Tale Of Contrasts - Part 2
Did you know that the majority of grants given by our Community Foundation are to organisations in the District and not in the centre of Wakefield?
So, following on from our successful and popular event in Wakefield, we are pleased to be taking ourselves out to the District. You can join us for an exclusive networking luncheon on Friday 18th November between 12-2pm at King’s Croft Hotel in Pontefract. This will bring together the key businesses and influencers in the District to explain our plans for re-invigorating the Community Foundation and its impact on communities throughout the 5 towns.
Event to be held at the following time, date and location:
Friday, 18 November, 2016 from 12 noon to 2pm
The Kings Croft Hotel
Whilst Business is doing extremely well in the District, we know that continued prosperity and growth depends on having a vibrant community with the relevant skills and aspirations. Unfortunately, there are still significant areas of deprivation within the District. This leads to low achievement and poor expectations. We believe it is very important that these contrasting elements are addressed by demonstrating how we can all work together to make a significant difference in our Local Community.
Topics covered and Speakers will include:
“How the CFW helped us” - Steve Greatorex, Wakefield Whirlwinds Disabled Basketball Team
“The importance of Community Foundations” - A UK Community Foundation Spokesman
“How drama inspires deprived Children” - Imagination Theatre Castleford
“Our cash saver scheme” - Tim Craven of Wakefield District Housing
Lunch will include a varied selection of sandwiches, pork pies, sausage rolls, delicious cakes, scones with cream and jam, plus unlimited tea or coffee in the excellent surroundings of the King's Tickets Croft Hotel, Pontefract.
